Exerpt from interview with Marianne B.
"...He had a provincial, perhaps strict upbringing, in Reims. He studies philosophy in Paris. He pays little attention to his outward appearance. He wears clothes which are a bit out of shape- always this black double-breasted alpaca coat. And since he gains and loses weight easily, it's always either too big or too small. With his black trousers and white shirt, he looks like a penguin, like a character out of a children's book. There is a naive side to him although he is very learned. He is the type of person that even a computer would forget. There's nothing reprehensible in his life, it's pure, transparent.
A sentence by Mayakovski talking about one of his friends always comes to Marianne's mind when she things of Pierre: '...he is a cloud in trousers.'"
